A wellness coach is a coach, with skills similar to a life coach, who specializes in helping people make the kinds of changes to their lives that promote wellness. The work a wellness coach and client do together typically revolves around helping the client develop excellent self-care skills.
A wellness coach, along with overall expertise regarding self-care, usually has specific expertise around helping people learn to exercise well and eat well and typically has specific training in exercise science and nutrition. A wellness coach often has the skills of a personal trainer, a nutritionist, and a life coach in one. This enables them to provide not only expert guidance around exercising well and eating well, but to also help clients with behavior change. This enables the client to get past challenges they may have with making self-care behaviors stick.
