Cultivating Safe Spaces for Patient-Centered Healing

Boston University School of Social Work’s Bedford campus is hosting a free community event featuring a presentation on patient-centered healing practices by campus director Yunieska Krug. The presentation, titled “Cultivating Safe Spaces for Patient-Centered Healing,” will explore equity issues in behavioral health care delivery systems by examining privilege, power, and bias in clinical settings. One continuing education credit for social workers licensed in Massachusetts is pending.
The presentation will be followed by a light reception as well as an admissions information session for prospective students interested in the Off-Campus MSW Program in Bedford. (Registration for the information session is separate; please register for the info session here.)
Speaker: Yunieska Krug, MSW, LICSW, MLADC
Yunieska Krug is the director of the Boston University School of Social Work Off-Campus MSW Program’s Bedford campus. She is a licensed independent clinical social worker in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, and a licensed master’s-level alcohol and drug abuse counselor in New Hampshire. She holds certifications in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectal behavioral therapy, and mental health in aging populations.

• Traveling from Route 128 South: Take Rte. 3 North to Exit 76 (Bedford/Concord Road, Billerica). Turn left towards Bedford. Follow to first flashing light and take a left into Nortel Networks Technology Park. Follow to end and turn right (Orchard Street). MCC Bedford Campus entrance will be immediately to your left. Follow signs to student and visitors parking.
• Traveling from Route 128 North: Take Exit 50B (Routes 4/225) into Bedford. Follow Great Road until you pass Bedford Shopping Center on your right (Marshalls, Whole Foods). Take first right immediately past shopping center onto Hillside Ave. towards VA Medical Center (becomes Springs Rd.). Pass through VA Hospital grounds continuing on Springs Road for just under a mile. MCC entrance will be on the right. Follow to student and visitor parking.
