Herbal First Aid for Outside Fun: Bumps, Bruises, and Abrasions

August 15 @ 8:00 am - 11:00 am

We'll begin with a intro to basic first-aid using herbs and preparations, then roll up our sleeves for a hands-on, salve‑making session.

Herbal First Aid for Outdoor Fun

Whether you’re hiking, gardening, or simply spending time outdoors, knowing how to use herbs for minor injuries and irritations can help you feel more prepared. In this class, participants will explore easy-to-find herbs that support common first-aid concerns and will create an herbal salve for treating abrasions.

Join herbalist Anne Fletcher to learn how to harness the medicinal properties of both native and cultivated plants. The class will focus on how to choose the right remedy for different situations, while also covering each plant’s natural history, cultivation, and sustainable harvesting. We will explore a variety of herbal preparations and take a closer look at a selection of some trusted and versatile medicinal plant allies.

Drawing on her experience in the natural body care industry—as well as her work as a teacher, gardener, and farmer—Anne will share practical guidance on which herbal products to keep in your home first-aid apothecary and why. To conclude, we will practice making an herbal oil infusion and then create a salve specifically for treating abrasions. Each participant will take home their own handmade remedy.
