How can new customers find you?
Where are they looking?
So, you have a website. But how can you get people to go to it?

Many wellness professionals know about social media. We post on Facebook or Instagram. We know about content marketing, we write blogs, and newsletters. An often-overlooked opportunity that is a game changer for many businesses, is a little thing called SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

Studies show that between 70-80% of people research a company online BEFORE visiting the small business or making a purchase with them. And 93% of online experiences begin with a search engine.

1. Google is looking for an exact match. Keywords matter. Choose the right keywords that relate to your business and what you offer clients or patients. Once you’ve identified them, pick one keyword per page and write supporting keywords in to the copy.

2. Implement Metadata. The meta title and description form the google snippet that appears in search results. Combined, the meta title and description tell the google bots what the page is about. Per the algorithm, meta title should not exceed 70 characters, and meta description should not exceed 140 characters. Both title and description should contain the pages focus keyword, and the description can contain related keywords.

3. The right tools for the job? If you have a Word Press Site, YOAST is excellent plugin specific to SEO. For keyword research, you can go in to Google AdWords (create an account even if you don’t plan to spend any money on ads) and use their keyword planner. Or use Google Trends to see what others are searching for: https://trends.google.com/trends/?geo=US. Another tip is to type your prospective keywords into google search and see what autofill’s.

Now go optimize!

Be well 🙂
